eProd Solutions was nominated to be a member of the World Bank’s One Million Farmer Platform in the Africa-Korea AgTech Innovation Challenge. The One Million Farmer Platform is a digital platform that aims to connect small-scale farmers in Africa with markets, information, and financial services to help them increase their productivity and incomes by 2025. The platform relies on innovative technologies and partnerships with private-sector companies to achieve its goals.

As a partner in the One Million Farmer Platform, eProd Solutions will collaborate with other partners to drive meaningful change in the African agriculture sector. The platform’s objective is to use data and digital technologies to help small-scale farmers increase their productivity and incomes, leading to poverty reduction and food security.

The World Bank’s Global Lead for Data & Digital Agriculture, Parmesh Shah, has expressed the organization’s plans to invest significantly in data and digital technologies for Kenyan agriculture during the Africa-Korea AgTech Innovation Challenge. The World Bank has also approved a $250 million International Development Association (IDA) credit for a new National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) in Kenya, which will increase market participation and value addition for 500,000 small-scale farmers across nine value chains in 26 counties. The project will build on the foundation laid by two previous World Bank-funded projects, the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project and the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project. It will primarily target farmers involved in the dairy, poultry, fruits and vegetables, coffee, cotton, cashew nut, apiculture, and pyrethrum value chains.

The World Bank’s One Million Farmer Platform and the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project are expected to significantly change the African agriculture sector by leveraging technology and private sector partnerships. These projects will not only benefit small-scale farmers but also other value chain actors such as extension workers, aggregators, logistics support providers, and SMEs operating within the value chain.

With the increasing adoption of technology, the agriculture sector in Africa can leverage digital platforms like the One Million Farmer Platform to achieve sustainable agriculture and contribute to the economic growth of the continent.

The partnership between eProd Solutions and the One Million Farmer Platform is an important step towards realizing the potential of digital technologies in the agriculture sector in Africa. With the platform’s help, small-scale farmers will have access to critical information, financial services, and markets, enhancing their productivity and improving their livelihoods. As a result, the partnership will contribute significantly to the growth of the agriculture sector in Africa, leading to poverty reduction and food security.
